Volkswagen Bank GmbH is a German direct bank headquartered in Braunschweig and forms part of Volkswagen Financial Services AG, which is ultimately owned by Volkswagen AG. Established in 1949, it operates as the captive financial institution for the Volkswagen Group’s automotive brands and uses several brand labels in Germany, including Volkswagen Bank, Audi Bank, SEAT Bank, and Škoda Bank. The bank focuses on financing and services connected to vehicle sales, offering consumer auto loans and leasing, while also providing dealer and wholesale financing, fleet solutions, and related services for the group’s retail network. On the retail side it offers deposit products such as savings and term deposits via direct channels. Volkswagen Bank GmbH is a licensed credit institution under the German Banking Act and is supervised by BaFin and the Deutsche Bundesbank. Statutory deposit protection applies through the Compensation Scheme of German Banks (EdB) up to EUR 100,000 per depositor, per bank; the bank also participates in the private banks’ voluntary Deposit Protection Fund (Einlagensicherungsfonds des Bundesverbandes deutscher Banken), subject to that scheme’s rules and limits. Funding comes from a mix of customer deposits and capital markets instruments.
