Über Nenagh Credit Union Limited
Nenagh Credit Union Limited is a member-owned financial cooperative serving the Nenagh area in County Tipperary, operating under the Credit Union Act 1997 (as amended) and supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland. Membership is limited to people who live, work, or otherwise meet the common bond criteria set by the credit union. Members can hold savings in the form of shares and apply for loans; any return on shares is via a dividend, if declared at the annual general meeting, and is not guaranteed. Eligible savings are covered by the Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme up to €100,000 per person per institution. Lending decisions are based on affordability and credit history, interest is typically charged on the reducing balance, and APRs must be disclosed; loans may be unsecured or, in some cases, secured against members’ savings, and reporting to the Central Credit Register applies. Services are delivered through the branch and online channels for account access and loan applications, with standard identity and anti–money laundering checks required at onboarding. Governance is handled by a volunteer board and statutory committees, and audited financial statements are published annually. Constraints include a local membership requirement, internal policy and regulatory caps on savings and lending, and service availability tied to stated opening hours and channels; unresolved complaints can be referred to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.
