SID-SLOVENSKA IZVOZNA IN RAZVOJNA BANKA, d.d., LJUBLJANA is Slovenia’s national promotional and export-credit bank, fully owned by the Republic of Slovenia and headquartered in Ljubljana. Established in 1992, it operates under a public-policy mandate to support export activity and long-term economic development. The bank provides export credit insurance on behalf of the state, medium- and long-term loans, guarantees and counter-guarantees, and lines of credit delivered directly or via commercial banks to SMEs, mid-caps, large corporates, municipalities, and public entities. It does not provide everyday retail services such as current accounts or payment cards; funding relies on bond issuance, borrowings from international financial institutions, and state or EU-mandated programs, with parts of its activities benefiting from sovereign support frameworks. SID Bank is supervised by Banka Slovenije within the EU banking regime and is governed by a management board and a supervisory board. Its credit profile and risk positioning are closely linked to the sovereign due to its ownership and legal mandate; capital and liquidity metrics have been reported above regulatory minima in recent years. Product eligibility, state-aid rules, and project documentation requirements can lengthen processing times and constrain pricing flexibility relative to commercial lenders. The institution channels national and EU funds into investment, innovation, infrastructure, export finance, and environmental projects, cooperates with the EIB Group and other multilaterals, and publishes annual reports detailing mandates, financial statements, and risk disclosures.
