Over Ennistymon and District Credit Union Limited
Ennistymon and District Credit Union Limited is a member-owned financial cooperative serving a defined common bond around Ennistymon and the surrounding district in County Clare. It offers core retail services typical of Irish credit unions, including share (savings) accounts and consumer lending such as personal, car, home improvement and education loans; some facilities, like loans secured against savings, may also be available. Interest is quoted as APR, lending is subject to affordability and credit checks, and supporting documentation can be required. Members can lodge and withdraw funds at the office and via electronic transfers, with standing orders and SEPA payments commonly supported; online account access and digital loan applications are provided, and a mobile app or e-signature functionality may be in place. Availability of a current account with a debit card and digital wallets depends on participation in national credit union payment schemes, and fees or transaction charges can apply where offered. Returns on savings, if any, are set annually by the board as a dividend or interest and are not guaranteed. Membership is limited to individuals within the common bond who meet identification, address verification and PPS number requirements under anti-money laundering rules. The credit union is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland, and eligible deposits are protected by the Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme up to €100,000 per person per institution. Governance is by an elected volunteer board with an annual general meeting and published financial statements. Product features, rates, fees, opening hours and service availability can change, and up-to-date terms are provided directly by the credit union; complaints follow the internal process with potential escalation to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman.
