Hrvatska poštanska banka d.d. (HPB) is a Croatian joint-stock credit institution headquartered in Zagreb and supervised by the Croatian National Bank, offering retail, SME, corporate and public-sector banking services such as current and savings accounts, cards, consumer and housing loans, business lending, trade finance, payment services and treasury products. Its distribution combines proprietary branches and digital channels with a longstanding arrangement that enables service provision through Hrvatska pošta post offices across the country. In 2022, following the resolution of Sberbank’s Croatian operation, HPB acquired and integrated those activities, increasing its asset base and customer reach. Since Croatia’s euro adoption on 1 January 2023, HPB operates in EUR, processes SEPA payments and provides PSD2-compliant access to third-party providers. The bank’s funding is primarily from customer deposits, while lending is focused on households and domestic businesses; liquidity is supported by holdings of Croatian government and other high-quality liquid assets. Deposits are protected by the national deposit guarantee scheme up to EUR 100,000 per depositor per bank, in line with EU law.
