CRELAN

Crelan is a Belgian cooperative bank focused on retail customers, the self‑employed, SMEs, and the agricultural sector, built from the integration of Landbouwkrediet/Crédit Agricole Belgium and Centea and rebranded in 2013; it is majority‑owned by cooperative shareholders through CrelanCo and is not publicly listed. In 2022 it acquired AXA Bank Belgium, creating the Crelan Group; the transaction included a long‑term insurance distribution arrangement with AXA and a minority equity stake for AXA, with operational integration progressing in phases. The bank offers standard domestic banking services: current accounts, payment cards, regulated savings accounts, term deposits, mortgages, consumer credit, business and agri finance, and investment and insurance products distributed as an intermediary. Access is provided via a nationwide network of independent agents and through web and mobile banking, with SEPA transfers, direct debits, and strong customer authentication under PSD2. Crelan is a licensed credit institution under the supervision of the National Bank of Belgium and the FSMA; eligible deposits are covered up to €100,000 per person per bank by the Belgian deposit guarantee scheme. Customers can subscribe to cooperative shares, which are non‑listed instruments with limited liquidity, possible capital loss, and discretionary, non‑guaranteed dividends. Account fees, card charges, and interest conditions follow published tariffs and are subject to change; product features and pricing may evolve as the integration of AXA Bank Belgium proceeds. Services are offered primarily in Dutch and French, with a domestic focus.
