About Crédit du Nord
Crédit du Nord was a French retail and commercial banking network within Société Générale that served individuals, professionals, SMEs and mid-caps with current accounts, SEPA payments, bank cards (Visa/Mastercard with 3‑D Secure), consumer credit, mortgages, regulated savings (Livret A, LDDS, PEL/CEL), life insurance via group insurers, securities accounts and PEA, and a range of business services including cash management, working capital financing, leasing, merchant acquiring/POS, and factoring through group subsidiaries. As part of a group reorganization, the Crédit du Nord brand and its regional banks were integrated into a single retail bank branded “SG” from 2023, with branches rebranded and digital channels migrated; contracts continue under Société Générale entities and customers are being directed to SG identifiers, cards and apps following migration. Account opening required standard KYC and, for certain profiles (e.g., non‑residents or businesses), additional documentation and in‑person verification; service availability could vary by branch. Pricing followed published tariff schedules that vary by product and package; international transfers, foreign currency transactions and out‑of‑network withdrawals incur fees; closing a current account is free under French law, while transferring securities or PEAs may involve charges. Digital access provided web and mobile banking with PSD2 strong customer authentication; after the merger, online and mobile access is through SG platforms. Crédit du Nord and its successors are supervised by the ACPR and, for investment services, by the AMF; eligible deposits are covered by the French FGDR up to €100,000 per depositor, per institution. New clients now onboard with SG; legacy Crédit du Nord customers should refer to SG communications for branch codes, means of payment and channel changes.
