O Santander Investment, S.A.
Santander Investment, S.A., Sociedad de Valores is the Spanish investment services arm of the Santander group focused on capital markets and advisory activity for professional and institutional clients. It is authorized and supervised by the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) as a securities firm, operating under MiFID II and the EU Investment Firms Regulation/Directive (IFR/IFD). The firm typically provides order reception and execution, dealing on own account, underwriting and placement of issues, sales and trading across equities, fixed income, FX, rates and credit derivatives, as well as investment research and corporate finance services delivered in coordination with the group’s investment banking division. Client assets are subject to statutory segregation rules, and the Spanish investor compensation scheme (FOGAIN) may apply within its legal limits and conditions; this is not a deposit-taking entity, so bank deposit guarantees do not apply. Fees and commissions are generally negotiated bilaterally and disclosed to clients under ex-ante and ex-post cost transparency rules, with research and inducements handled per MiFID unbundling requirements. The firm maintains best execution, conflicts of interest, and order handling policies and publishes required prudential and regulatory disclosures; risk controls and infrastructure are aligned with group frameworks but liabilities are separate unless a guarantee is explicitly stated. Clearing, settlement, and custody may be provided by affiliated entities. Cross-border services within the EEA can be offered under passporting, while activity in other jurisdictions is conducted through local Santander affiliates. Onboarding follows standard KYC/AML and suitability/appropriateness assessments, with regulatory reporting provided as required.
