O Šiaulių bankas

Šiaulių bankas AB is a Lithuanian commercial bank established in 1992 and headquartered in Šiauliai, listed on Nasdaq Vilnius (SAB1L), with a shareholder base that includes a significant minority stake held by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development alongside a broad free float. It operates across Lithuania through branches and digital channels, serving retail, SME, and corporate customers with current and savings accounts, payments, cards, housing and consumer loans, SME lending, leasing, factoring, and investment and insurance distribution via group companies and partners; in 2013 it expanded by taking over selected assets and liabilities of the resolved Ūkio bankas. The bank positions itself as the largest domestically owned Lithuanian bank, smaller than the Nordic-owned peers by assets, and remains focused on the home market. Funding is predominantly euro customer deposits, complemented by periodic senior and subordinated bond issuance; capital ratios have historically exceeded regulatory minimums, and dividends have been paid subject to supervisor approval. Profitability rose in 2022–2023 with higher euro interest rates and is impacted by Lithuania’s temporary bank solidarity contribution; margin compression and deposit repricing are relevant sensitivities as rates normalize. Key risks are concentration in the Lithuanian economy, a comparatively high share of SME exposures, and limited geographic diversification; asset quality has been stable but cyclical deterioration would lift the cost of risk. Governance uses a two‑tier structure under Bank of Lithuania supervision within the EU framework, and deposits are covered by the national guarantee up to the EU limit. Digital services include online and mobile banking, SEPA and instant payments, and support for contactless and major wallet schemes; pricing and service scope are broadly in line with domestic competitors, with international services offered but not the core focus.
