O BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO SOCIETA' PER AZIONI
BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO SOCIETA' PER AZIONI (Banca Popolare di Sondrio S.p.A.) is an Italian banking group headquartered in Sondrio, Lombardy, founded in 1871 and listed on Euronext Milan (ticker BPSO). It completed its transformation from a cooperative “popolare” to a joint-stock company in 2022 following regulatory changes. The group focuses on retail, SME, and corporate banking through a branch network concentrated in Northern Italy with selected coverage elsewhere in the country, and it operates cross-border private banking via a Swiss subsidiary. Its offering spans current and savings accounts, payments and cards, mortgages, consumer and business lending, trade finance, wealth and asset management, and insurance distribution, with factoring and leasing provided through group entities and partnerships. Digital channels include internet and mobile banking with remote onboarding for selected products and electronic document workflows; pricing is package-based and disclosed in the bank’s fee schedules, with costs varying by product and channel. The bank prepares consolidated financial statements under IFRS, publishes Pillar 3 disclosures covering capital, liquidity, and risk, and is supervised within the European Single Supervisory Mechanism; deposits are protected up to €100,000 per depositor under the Italian deposit guarantee scheme in line with EU rules. Earnings are driven by net interest income and fee and commission income, while risk reflects exposure to Italian households and SMEs; asset quality, funding costs, and capital ratios should be evaluated using the latest public reports. Governance follows the S.p.A. model with a board of directors and statutory auditors, and investor information and regulatory documents are available through the bank’s official channels.
