An Post Money is the consumer finance arm of An Post in Ireland, offering a limited set of products focused on credit, travel money, and foreign exchange rather than full-service banking. The An Post Money Current Account was withdrawn in 2022 and is not available, and new mortgage applications are not being accepted; mortgages previously distributed by An Post Money are serviced by the underlying lender. The active product range centres on credit cards, unsecured personal loans, a multi-currency prepaid travel card, and foreign currency cash services at post offices. Credit cards can be managed online and via the app, typically support mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay, and carry the standard Irish Government Stamp Duty on credit cards; interest, cash advance charges, foreign usage fees, and late fees apply per the published schedule. Personal loans distributed by An Post Money are provided and regulated by Avant Money (Avantcard DAC) and are subject to credit assessment, affordability checks, and Irish consumer credit rules, including the right to early settlement with an interest rebate; fees, APRs, and loan amounts vary by applicant. The An Post Money Currency Card is a reloadable prepaid Mastercard for holding and spending in supported currencies; it can be topped up in euro, converted at quoted rates in-app, and used for purchases and ATM withdrawals, with card and FX fees applying; as an e-money product it is safeguarded but not covered by the Deposit Guarantee Scheme. Foreign currency cash can be ordered online for collection or bought in selected post offices, with rates set by An Post; identification may be required. An Post Money largely distributes products provided by regulated third parties (notably Avant Money for credit), while State Savings sold in post offices are separate NTMA products backed by the Irish State and governed by different terms. Services are available to Republic of Ireland residents subject to ID and address verification; customer support is provided online, by phone, and through the post office network, and complaints can be escalated to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman if unresolved.
