À propos de The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland
The Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland is the principal licensed banking entity of Bank of Ireland Group plc, established by royal charter in 1783 and headquartered in Dublin. It is authorized by the Central Bank of Ireland and, as a significant institution in the euro area, is subject to prudential supervision under the ECB’s Single Supervisory Mechanism. Retail and business services include current and savings accounts, payment services, debit and credit cards, overdrafts, personal loans, mortgages, SME and corporate lending, asset and trade finance, treasury and cash management, and the distribution of insurance and investment products through group and third-party partners; the group also provides wealth and capital markets services through specialist subsidiaries. Day-to-day access is via a branch and ATM network in the Republic of Ireland, online and mobile (including 365 online and app), and contact centres; Strong Customer Authentication and PSD2 open banking APIs are in place. Deposits with this entity are covered by the Irish Deposit Guarantee Scheme up to €100,000 per eligible depositor per institution, with separate UK coverage applying only to accounts held with the distinct subsidiary Bank of Ireland (UK) plc. Fees, interest rates, and eligibility criteria vary by product and are published in the bank’s price lists and terms; account opening requires standard identification and anti–money laundering checks, and remote onboarding is available for many applicants. Payments are supported across SEPA and international SWIFT, and Visa debit cards and digital wallets are offered. The bank publishes capital, liquidity, and risk disclosures under CRR/CRD and MREL frameworks and is rated by major credit rating agencies. The institution has been the subject of regulatory enforcement actions in recent years, including matters related to tracker mortgages and operational resilience; official notices from the Central Bank of Ireland provide details. Mortgages and consumer lending are subject to Irish macroprudential and consumer protection rules, and complaints can be escalated to the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman if not resolved through the bank’s internal process.
