Binckbank NV

BinckBank N.V. was a Dutch online bank and broker founded in 2000 that targeted self-directed investors and savers across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy. It held a banking and investment firm license under Dutch law, supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank and the AFM; eligible deposits fell under the Dutch Deposit Guarantee Scheme (up to €100,000 per person, per bank) and investment services were covered by the Dutch Investor Compensation Scheme where applicable. The firm offered savings accounts, securities accounts for equities, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, and listed derivatives such as options and futures, along with margin facilities and discretionary portfolio management. Clients could select account variants with different custody characteristics and fee structures. Pricing typically combined per-order commissions, exchange and clearing charges, custody or service fees, currency conversion costs, and interest on cash balances that could be negative under low-rate conditions; market data subscriptions were available at additional cost. Trading was provided via proprietary web and mobile platforms with standard order types and MiFID II best-execution policies; client assets were held in segregated arrangements as required by regulation. BinckBank acquired Alex Beleggingsbank in 2007 and was listed on Euronext Amsterdam until its delisting following Saxo Bank A/S’s recommended offer, which completed in 2019. The Binck brand and operations were subsequently integrated into Saxo Bank; in 2021 a legal merger folded BinckBank N.V. into Saxo Bank A/S, and customer migrations to Saxo platforms and terms occurred by market thereafter. New accounts are opened under the Saxo brand, and existing Binck customers are subject to Saxo Bank’s current fee schedules, product availability, platform features, and investor protection framework in their jurisdiction.
