À propos de Australia and New Zealand banking group limited
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ; ASX: ANZ) is a Melbourne‑headquartered universal bank and one of Australia’s four major banks, with origins dating to 1835 and formed through mergers including the 1951 combination of the Bank of Australasia and the Union Bank of Australia and the 1970 acquisition of the English, Scottish & Australian Bank. It operates across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and selected international markets, with reportable segments typically comprising Australia Retail & Commercial, New Zealand, Institutional, Pacific and Group Centre. The Australian franchise is concentrated in home lending, everyday banking, small business and cards, while Institutional focuses on transaction banking, markets, trade and cash management with a network spanning Asia, Europe and North America; retail operations in several Asian countries were exited in prior years. In New Zealand, services are provided primarily through ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited, a separately incorporated subsidiary subject to RBNZ oversight. The group is pursuing a multiyear technology program (ANZx) that includes ANZ Plus, a new digital retail platform in Australia. In 2022 ANZ agreed to acquire Suncorp Bank; after the ACCC initially declined authorization, the Australian Competition Tribunal approved the transaction in February 2024, followed by federal and state approvals, with completion subject to conditions and integration milestones. The bank maintains capital and liquidity ratios above regulatory minimums, funds itself through a mix of customer deposits and wholesale markets, and pays semi‑annual dividends subject to board discretion and prudential constraints. Credit, housing market, conduct, cyber, regulatory and funding risks remain key considerations; the group has incurred customer remediation and compliance costs in recent years. ANZ is listed on the ASX and has a foreign exempt listing on the NZX, and is broadly rated in the AA category by major credit rating agencies.
